64 SENATORS MAKE ENGLISH THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE

The Imhofe Amendment No. 1151 that the Senate approved last night makes English the official language of the United States. It is laughable but it is also anti-Mexican. Why should the U.S. have only one official language? Switzerland has four official languages. We spend millions on educating children to speak and learn another language. Now the United States Senate snubs the value of learning foreign languages, especially Spanish, by according to English a privileged status.

This Imhofe Amendment is anti-Spanish and anti-Latino and anti-Mexican. I can see how certain Republican Senators would vote for a piece of garbage like this, but why should any Democrats?

Here is a link to the list in the Washington Post of who voted aye and who voted no on this useless declaration.
