Next Monday will be the 67th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, resulting in the fiery deaths of 140,000. The Guardian reports that a grandson of the American president who ordered the bombing is in Hiroshima to attend the memorial service.
Clifton Truman Daniel, 51, is the grandson of Harry Truman.
It is amazing that many, but not all, Americans believe the bombing was justified and the right thing to do.
The bombing is a good example of an out-and-out war crime. Harry Truman did not face trial because the U.S. was the victor. It seems that only leaders of the vanquished are brought up on war crimes.
But I commend Clifton Truman Daniel for recognizing the awful suffering and fate of 140,000 souls who were incinerated on that day back in 1945.
