Stop the American drone strikes in Pakistan.
I don't understand how Pres. Barack Obama can order these non-judicial killings. Obama is at once the judge, jury and executioner.
How many men, women and children in rural Pakistani villages have been incinerated by American drones? This is against international law—one country firing missiles across another's borders and killing the target country's people.
These drone strikes are making everyone hate the Americans. Chris Woods in The Guardian reports that it is radicalizing ordinary Pakistanis. Writes Woods:
"One of Islamabad's most senior diplomats is warning that CIA drone strikes in Pakistan's tribal areas are weakening democracy and risk pushing people towards extremist groups.
Wajid Shamsul Hasan, the high commissioner to London and one of Pakistan's top ambassadors, also accuses the US of "talking in miles" when it comes to democracy but "moving in inches"."

OBAMA: CONDEMN BAHRAIN 'S CRACK-DOWN ON MEDICAL DOCTORS HELPING WOUNDED PROTESTERS
I want Pres. Obama to: 1) condemn government violence against doctors in Bahrain; 2) stop mass deportation of Latino undocumented immigrants; 3) end drone attacks against Pakistani villages in Waziristan that kill innocent civilians; 4) fight Republican attempts to destroy Social Security and Medicare under guise of reducing debt.

WAR CRIME: U.S. DRONES KILL 40+ PAKISTANIS IN WAZIRISTAN
To think that Democratic liberal former congressman Leon Panetta as CIA head is in charge of these strikes against "terrorists" in Waziristan is sickening and revolting. Stop US drone attacks against Pakistani villagers.
Of the 40 people killed, how many were ordinary Pakistani villagers? Hows many were farmers, wives, children?
Sending unmanned American drones to shoot missiles at men, women and children is unjustified and illegal. Furthermore, it is a war crime that should not go unpunished.

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TRIES TO MINIMIZE LARGE NUMBER OF CIVILIANS KILLED IN U.S. DRONE MISSILE ATTACKS.
One of the most disturbing parts of Pres. Barack Obama's policy towards Afghanistan and Pakistan is his approval of the use of U.S. unmanned drones to search out and kill insurgents and "terrorists." I have long argued for an end to this abominable practice of targeting mostly Pakistani villagers from the air and then incinerating them with American missiles. Why? Because these killings are extra-judicial, meaning that the victims have no say in whether they are "guilty" or not; that even if an American-hating member of the Taliban is killed, there is surely an innocent killed along with him; that these drone attacks make no distinction between killing children and their targeted "enemies."
Steve Clemons' The Washington Note has a guest blog by Peter Bergen and Katherine Tiedemann on a story by The New York Times several days ago quoting an anonymous administration official who claimed that so far drone attacks have killed "just over 20 civilians."
Write Bergen and Tiedemann:
"What is troubling -- and in our view, highly unlikely -- is the official's claim that only some 20 civilians have been killed by these drone strikes, a fatality rate of only around 5 percent. Given that one strike alone on the funeral of a suspected Taliban militant in South Waziristan in late June killed at least 18 people described as civilians, according to a report in the London Times, it seems implausible that only a handful more were killed in all of the 81 drone strikes that have occurred since the beginning of 2008."
I fully agree with Bergen and Tiedmann. The government, no matter whose administration, always tries to play down events that don't favor its mythical account of warfare and aggression. Some anonymous official realizes that American voters do not like to think of themselves as killers of innocent villagers, especially women and children. So the government official tries to falsely minimize the number.
Here is Bergen and Tiedemann's estimate on civilian fatalities:
"Our own data shows that if we consider just the period from 2008 until the present, the average civilian fatality rate is between 35 and 40 percent; far more than the five percent claimed by the government official."
Given that Bergen and Tiedmann estimate some 500 militants killed by drones since 2008, their estimate of 40% additional in civilian casualities would put the number at 200.

STOP U.S. DRONE MISSILE ATTACKS ON PAKISTANI VILLAGES
There has been another deadly U.S. drone strike along the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The BBC reports that the attack killed 10 people.
Writes the BBC:
""Three missiles hit the hideout of Taliban commander Noor Wali. Casualties are feared, but details are not immediately available," news agency AFP quoted a security official as saying.
"The attacks took place in Mochikhel, an area controlled by Noor Wali, who is part of Baitullah Mehsud's Tehrik-e-Taliban organisation.
"Mochikhel is near the key Servakai route, currently the scene of fighting between Pakistani security forces and Mehsud's militants.
"Any casualty figures could not be immediately confirmed but unnamed intelligence officials and residents said at least 10 militants were killed."
The government of Pakistan objects to these U.S. attacks from unseen drones as being counter-productive. Villagers living next to houses being destroyed and families being killed naturally resent the U.S. and Americans for these missile strikes. If rural Pakistanis liked Americans before, they now have nothing but hatred and resentment.
Reports the BBC:
"Pakistan has been publicly critical of drone attacks, arguing that they kill civilians and fuel support for the militants.
"The US military does not routinely confirm drone attacks but the armed forces and the Central Intelligence Agency operating in Afghanistan are believed to be the only forces capable of deploying drones in the region."
I still don't understand how Barack Obama could approve these strikes. Why? Because it denies the supreme worth of the individual, and it takes place outside of any domain of law. Of the 10 people killed in the strike reported by the BBC, how many were children, how many were civilians, and how many were "insurgents" acting in good faith? How can Obama's government decide on its own who deserves to die, who should be a target of the drone's missiles, who merits the death penalty solely on account of living with or next to an insurgent?
