I watched some of the debate last night between V.P. Joseph Biden and Republican Cong. Paul Ryan.
To think that there are a lot of American voters who might choose Ryan and Mitt Romney over Barack Obama and Biden is astounding! And even more surprising is that a majority of old geezers over 65 prefer Romney/Ryan!
Ryan and Romney want to lower takes on top earners, cut social programs, and, above all, do away with Social Security and Medicare.
They claim that seniors over 55 will not be affected, but how about those between 45 and 55? Instead of health care from Medicare, Romney/Ryan will give them a voucher. If their health expenses exceed the face value of the voucher, well, too bad!

GEORGE OSBORNE CUTS GOVERNMENT SPENDING AND PAYROLLS, CASTS U.K. INTO STEEP RECESSION
Prime Minister David Cameron reshuffles his cabinet, but he keeps George Osborne as chancellor of the Exchequer. The same Osborne who has forced thousands of cuts in public employment, at whose door we can lay Britain's double-dip recession.
This same tactic is what mindless Republicans in the United States wish to do with the American economy. The mantra of cutting spending harks back to the days of Herbert Hoover when the same opponents of public debt took charge.
Fortunately, there are some smarter economists in the U.S. today, like Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, who refuse to go along with cutting government spending when the economy is in danger of going back into recession. But imagine the chaos and economic turmoil if that faker, Mitt Romney, and his side-kick, Paul Ryan, win the coming election!

REPUBLICANS FROTH AT U.S. SUPREME COURT DECISION UPHOLDING OBAMACARE
How about all those mean Republicans and Libertarians denouncing Obamacare and saying how they will do anything to overturn it, in spite of today's decision at the U.S. Supreme Court upholding it as constitutional?
David Frum, writing in The Daily Beast, says repeal is a fantasy.
" . . . today's Supreme Court decision will make it a lot harder to elect Mitt Romney. President Obama has just been handed a fearsome election weapon. 2012 is no longer exclusively a referendum on the president's economic management. 2012 is now also a referendum on Mitt Romney's healthcare plans. The president can now plausibly say that a vote for the Republicans is a vote to raise prescription drug costs on senior citizens and to empower insurance companies to deny coverage to children for pre-existing conditions. Those charges will hurt—and maybe hurt enough to sway the election."

REPUBLICANS SHOW THEIR ANIMOSITY TO AUTO UNION WORKERS
The Senate Republicans clearly have an animus for workers in the automobile industry. The mean Republicans refused to go along with a House bill to aid the automotive industry and left hundreds of thousands of workers in jeopardy of losing their health care, pensions and jobs.
Compare the Republicans' put down of union workers with their largesse towards Wall Street Banks. They gave 700 billion to the banks without any conditions. But when it comes to labor and unions, they demand the most draconian conditions.
If the auto industry goes down, and if millions of middle income blue-collar workers are forced into unemployment, the Republicans will suffer a political backlash not seen in modern political history. They will be a volcano of resentment against Republicans especially in those states that have a large percentage of automobile suppliers and workers.

CNBC'S MICHELLE CABRUSO CABRERA NO BETTER THAN MEAN LARRY KUDLOW OR JOE KERNEN
I watch CNBC for market information, but I don't appreciate political comments of some of their on-the-air personalities that presume all of their listeners are mean Republicans.
In previous posts, I have mentioned Larry Kudlow and Joe Kernen as being Republican shills, and how they seem to have morphed into pro-government interventionists when their jobs or their 401(k)s are in trouble.
I need to mention another Republican ideologue - Michelle Cabruso Cabrera. Tonight on Larry Kudlow's hour, she indicated that Barack Obama could not raise taxes given the dire shape of the economy and the decline in stock values.
Hey, wait a minute. Barack Obama wants to lower taxes for anyone earning less than $250,000.
So what is Cabruso Cabrera talking about? She wants to convey that Obama wants to raise taxes? This is just plain false for anyone making less than $250K, or 99% of all taxpayers.
Michelle Cabruso Cabrera is just another shill for the Republicans, in the mold of Lary Kudlow and Joe Kernen.

MEAN HOUSE REPUBLICANS RANT AGAINST RELIEF ON UNDER-WATER MORTGAGES - IT OFFENDS THEIR SENSE OF "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY"
I saw and heard Virginia Foxx, Republican of North Carolina, on C-Span warning how Republicans would remain true to their "principles" and never approve any assistance to distressed homeowners underwater on their mortgages.
It would appear these mean Republicans would rather a financially distressed homeowner suffer foreclosure with the result of an empty bordered up house on their block than cut the unfortunate person any slack with his/her mortgaged indebtedness.
One of the Democratic proposals is to allow a bankruptcy court to order mortgage indebtedness be reduced to the current market value of the property. So if a person in bankruptcy owes $200K on his home mortgage but his house and land is worth only $150K, a bankruptcy judge would be able to order a "cram down" of the indebtedness from $200K to $150K. The result would be that there would be no foreclosure, no bordered up empty homes, no deterioration of the real estate property values in the immediate neighborhood.
But this "cram down" is anathema to mean and nasty Republicans. It is against their sense of "personal responsibility." The never-cut-a-sucker-a-break mentality. Republicans have no sense of decency or giving a person a fresh start. No wonder their party is associated with the rich and wealthy and always against the common man.
